ASC 220 classroom (Philomathesian Hall)


Note:  Special Features of this room:

  1. Microphone Amplification
    1. VoiceLift microphones (lavalier and handheld) are provided should you want to amplify your voice during teaching.  The mics are located on charging cradles on top of the instructor’s lectern.  See the attached instructions on using these devices.
  2. Ability to turn off the HVAC blowers in the room
    1. Notice the two red buttons on each door in the NE and SE corners of the room. 
    2. Press these buttons to turn off the fans that blow hot or cold air into the room for HVAC purposes.  These buttons temporarily disable the blowers, so that the instructor can be heard more clearly during class.  They have been programmed to automatically turn on again after a few hours.
  3. Ability to use only one projector and screen (either side of room.)

To Use Desktop Computer with Projectors
  • To display computer image on projectors, use the Touch Panel controller on top of instructor lectern. (Pictured above). 
  • Press the “Press to Begin” icon. Screens will lower and projectors will turn on.
  • Press PC button on source selector of control panel, then press the “Projectors” destination button
  • The computer image should appear on screen.
  • Adjust volume, if needed, with volume + and - buttons on control panel (and/or the volume knob on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack below.)
  • To temporarily mute the sound, press the speaker icon between the + and - buttons on the touch panel.
  • When finished, log off computer, then press the Power button on the touch panel.
To Use Laptop with Projectors
  • To display laptop image on projectors, use the Touch Panel controller on top of instructor lectern. (Pictured above). 
  • Use the provided HDMI cable with adapter ring (using the specific adapter for your laptop) and plug it into your laptop.
  • Press the “Press to Begin” icon. Screens will lower and projectors will turn on.
  • Press Laptop button on source selector of control panel, then press the “Projectors” destination button
  • The laptop image should appear on screen.
  • Adjust volume, if needed, with volume + and - buttons on control panel (and/or the volume knob on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack below.)
  • To temporarily mute the sound, press the speaker icon between the + and - buttons on the touch panel.
  • When finished, unplug your laptop, then press the Power button on the touch panel.
To Show a BluRay or standard DVD
  • To show a DVD, use the Touch Panel controller on top of instructor lectern. (Pictured above).
  • Locate the DVD/BluRay player inside the equipment rack, press the Eject button and insert your DVD.
  • Press the “Press to Begin” icon. Screens will lower and projectors will turn on.
  • Press BluRay button on source selector of control panel, then press the “Projectors” destination button.
  • The BluRay/DVD image should appear on screen.  Use the provided DVD remote control to play and/or select scenes.
  • Adjust volume, if needed, with volume + and - buttons on control panel (and/or the volume knob on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack below.)
  • To temporarily mute the sound, press the speaker icon between the + and - buttons on the touch panel.
  • When finished, eject your DVD, then press the Power button on the touch panel.

    To use Apple TV/Ditto for wireless screencasting

  • To screencast the contents of your device, use the Touch Panel controller on top of instructor lectern. (Pictured above). 
  • Press the “Press to Begin” icon. Screens will lower and projectors will turn on.
  • Press Apple TV button on source selector of control panel, then press the “Projectors” destination button.
  • Follow the Ditto instructions show on the projectors or use the Screen Mirroring feature on your Apple device to choose the specific Apple TV to screencast to (using the drop down list)
  • The contents of your device should appear on screen. 
  • Adjust volume, if needed, with volume + and - buttons on control panel (and/or the volume knob on the Extron switcher in the equipment rack below.)
  • To temporarily mute the sound, press the speaker icon between the + and - buttons on the touch panel.
  • When finished, disconnect your device, then press the Power button on the touch panel.

To focus attention on one side of the room using only one projector



  • Use the touch panel controller on top of the instructor’s lectern
  • Press the “Display Controls” icon on the lower left
  • Press the Projector 1 or 2 On or Off buttons as needed
  • Press the Screen 1 or 2 Up or Down buttons as needed.
  • Remember to press the Power button on the touch panel to turn the system off when you are done with class.
